LASER - Travel Safety Area

Travel safety covers four areas; Road, Rail, Water (and Air)

Travel Safety Scenarios must be pitched at the 'right age'
Some of the sub-set messages can be incorporated and combined with other scenarios.
Scenarios should empower children to make decisions to be safe. (Experience, Knowledge, Process, Practice)

At KS2 children would normally be travelling as pedestrians or passengers.

Accredited schemes ensure Travel scenarios contain the following: -

Key Messages

PEDESTRIAN

  • Know a safe place to cross
  • Know how to use the safer place to cross
  • Plan a safer route
  • Assess your clothing
  • Wear something FLOURESCENT during the day and
  • Wear something REFLECTIVE at night
  • Know your travel code
  • Know your capabilities

PASSENGER

  • Always wear an individual seat belt (if there is one)
  • Do not distract the driver
