LASER - First Aid

Key Messages are taken from the current First Aid manual authorised by St John Ambulance, St Andrew's Ambulance Association and the Red Cross.

First Aid Scenarios must be appropriate for the age of the participants.
Because of the 'hands-on' nature of First Aid, a minimum of two adults should be present at all times.
Recovery position should only be demonstrated by one adult to another adult.

Accredited schemes ensure their First Aid scenarios contain the following: -

Key Messages

  • (DRABC) Danger - Response - Airway - Breathing - Recovery Position - Circulation - (HELP)
  • Injury Prevention

LASER schemes should not cover the practical actions used in choking and resuscitation, both are complex and can cause harm.

First Aid often requires a 999/112 call to be practiced.

First Aid is often embedded in other safety scenarios.
